Overview

At CIS, our teachers know and care about each student individually. We support students and help them grow as they transition from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. We nurture student well-being and agency and ensure that students are equipped to flourish emotionally and intellectually.

Our rigorous bilingual and intercultural academic programme is complemented by an inspiring arts programme, a full range of sports teams, and a rich co-curricular programme. These opportunities enable students to discover and develop their passions, and carve their own path from Reception to graduation.

Co-Curricular Programme

Committed to the development of the whole person, CIS offers a varied co-curricular activities (CCA) programme. CIS aims to create a positive environment in which students can exercise, gain new skills and interests, and have fun.

Arts

CIS values the arts to help students become more thoughtful, communicative individuals. The arts are a required part of the curriculum through Year 11 and an elective chosen by nearly half of Year 12 and 13 students. Students also have many co-curricular opportunities to pursue the arts.

Sports Programme

Our physical education curriculum which is required through Year 11 provides an effective foundation for our competitive sports teams, such as volleyball, netball, and basketball, as well as national representation for sports such as fencing and skiing. Students also have many co-curricular opportunities to improve their individual skill base and experience the joy of working as a team through non-competitive sports and experience a range of competitive environments.

Homerooms & Advisory

The school is attentive to creating an environment of mutual care and respect that provides age-appropriate support and guidance. This begins with Primary homeroom teachers and Secondary advisors who are charged with looking out for the broad welfare of their students and promoting shared values.

Leadership Opportunities

CIS provides a wide range of opportunities for students to explore and commit themselves to areas of interest they find meaningful. These opportunities enable our students to grow, gain skills, increase awareness and serve others. Funding support to pursue leadership opportunities is also provided through the Student Dream Fund.

Visible Well-Being

At CIS, we empower students to develop a sense of agency, learn from failure, nurture the resilience needed to challenge themselves and foster the self-understanding and caring relationships that contribute to a healthy emotional life.
