Innovation Lab Summer Programme FAQ

Week 1 focuses on Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), and Week 2 focuses on Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).

The programme offers bilingual instruction in English and Mandarin.

A maximum of 16 students per class with two qualified CIS teaching faculty. 

The programme uses dual-language instruction materials, technical vocabulary in both languages, bilingual learning celebrations, and cross-cultural tech perspectives. Students will work individually and as small groups to balance independent work and collaboration.

The Game Forge track focuses on game design addressing SDG challenges, user testing, accessibility considerations, social impact assessment, and industry-standard development practices.

The programme involves a design thinking process focused on community needs, SDG-connected projects, user interviews, empathy mapping, and team-based problem-solving. Students will work in teams to collaboratively tackle SDG-aligned challenges, and engage in inter-team competitions. All students will be able to take home their robots after the course (included in tuition). 

No, the content will not be repeated. Each week will focus on a different United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). One week will focus on SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and the other week will focus on SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). Students in the second week will have more independence and may mentor newer students.

The AI Innovators track includes entrepreneurship-focused AI applications, mentorship with industry leaders, startup development guidance, product prototyping, and real-world feasibility assessment.

The programme will explore coding support tools, content creation tools for images and videos, a secure connection to a frontier large language model (LLM), and the Flint education platform.

The learning celebration includes daily process documentation, project milestone documentation, peer feedback, self-reflection journals, and mentor feedback. There will also be a final celebration with a product showcase.

 The programme has a low teacher-to-student ratio. This allows teachers and mentors to provide extra guidance to younger students while older students can work at their own pace. Mixed-age classes can be beneficial, with older students reinforcing knowledge by teaching and younger students being exposed to advanced concepts.

The pricing reflects market research and aligns with rates for similar international school summer programmes. It includes lunch, a hardware kit for students to take home, individualised support, professional mentorship from industry experts, and one-on-one access to devices and platforms.
