University Counselling

University and Careers Counsellors support students in the university application process and guide students in their consideration of possible career paths.

Our comprehensive four-year University Counselling programme provides developmentally appropriate guidance in career awareness and self-exploration along with practical support in college research - all aimed at helping students choose university and career paths that best meet their needs, abilities, and aspirations.

Individualised attention is one of the hallmarks of our programme.  While students and parents are encouraged to meet individually with university counsellors at any time throughout their high school careers, students are assigned a specific university counsellor in Year 12 with whom they will work intensively for the duration of their college/university process.

Through individual meetings, large group, and parent information sessions, the team of six counsellors is especially focused on making the college process a well informed, successful, and above all, healthy experience for each of our families.

Since graduating its first class of nineteen students in 1994, CIS has developed an enviable record for university placements.

Individual & Career Advancement

The Individual and Career Advancement (ICA) programme is based on personal and career exploration and is designed to assist students in identifying their own individual strengths and objectives in preparation for major decisions such as IB Diploma course choices, post-secondary study and ultimately career options. It is designed to make a major contribution in preparing students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. It will help students make decisions and prepare for transitions as learners and as professionals.
