IB Diploma Programme

Year 12 & 13

Students in Years 12 and 13 are candidates for the IB Diploma. Assessment in each IB DP course is based on a range of activities completed over the two-year period, in addition to final examinations at the end of Year 13. In addition to their six subjects, all Diploma students also complete three ‘core’ requirements: the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) programme, which exposes students to new experiences outside the classroom, develops leadership potential, and supports the development of an ethos of service; the Extended Essay, an independent research project on a topic of the student’s choice; and the interdisciplinary Theory of Knowledge course.

CIS has long experience with the IB programmes. It has achieved exceptional results, with top marks obtained by individual students as well as consistently strong average point scores achieved by large cohorts of students.

Creativity, Activity & Service (CAS) Programme

The Creativity, Activity, and Service Programme is part of the IB Diploma Programme. It exposes students to new experiences outside the classroom, develops leadership potential, and supports the development of an ethos of service.

IB Core Requirement

Extended Essay (EE)

All IB Diploma students complete the Extended Essay, an independent, self-directed piece of research, culminating in a 4,000-word paper. It provides an opportunity for students to investigate a topic of special interest to them.

IB Core Requirement

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

All IB Diploma students must take Theory of Knowledge, an interdisciplinary course designed to stimulate critical thinking on the nature of knowledge. It is assessed through an oral presentation and a 1,600-word essay.

Year 10-12
