Campus & Facilities
CIS is located on the top of Braemar Hill, a quiet residential area noted for its many schools. The school derives much of its sense of community from its single campus focused around three central courtyards. Opened in 1991, the campus commands spectacular views of Victoria Harbour and the surrounding hills.
While the surrounding green areas are easily accessible for sporting activities and field excursions, CIS is also within easy reach of Hong Kong's dynamic urban centres. CIS is just five minutes by bus or taxi from the Causeway Bay shopping district and Mass Transit Rail (MTR) system, ten minutes from the historic Happy Valley racecourse and playing fields, and fifteen minutes from Central, the city's high-rise business hub.
The current "Phoenix Soaring" campus redevelopment will be completed in late 2018-19. Upon completion, specialised school facilities will include:
- central whole-school library,
- science and technology hub, uniting the sciences, design technology and visual arts around a common atrium,
- extensive student collaboration spaces,
- four gymnasiums (one convertible to Assembly Hall seating 800+),
- fitness room,
- 25-metre indoor swimming pool,
- outdoor climbing wall,
- 200-seat auditorium,
- 200-seat drama studio.
School Sports Field
CIS shares use of a School Sports Field at the end of Hau Yuen Path. The facility includes a 70%-sized pitch suitable for junior-level soccer, rugby, etc.; 2 hard courts suitable for tennis, volleyball, basketball or netball; and a 280-metre jogging track.
