2007 OCTS Project Overall Aims:
The following aims are to be achieved through a student centred learning environment:
1. Fostering of mutual cultural understanding between the Miao Villagers and Chinese International School students through collaborative data gathering and presentation of their findings to the Miao community
2. Specific “teacher training outcome” as requested by Zigen: introduction and application of alternative teaching practices, specifically being student centred within experiential learning activities
3. Addressing “eco-tourism” through the establishment of a “seed program” which will:
4. Mutual language development:
Mandarin for CIS Students and English for the Fang Xiang Students.
5. Post trip fund raising activities by CIS students, with the aim of educating the CIS community of the constraints and opportunities found in Fang Xiang and a goal of $20,000 raised, to be donated to the Fang Xiang Middle school.
