The
group traveled up the Pearl River (Zhu Jiang) by ferry to
both
Shunde and Guangzhou. In Shunde, we stayed at the Century Hotel,
which was
only
three star, but provided excellent service. Traveling from Shunde
we
went to Panyu by bus and eventually up to Guangzhou by chartered boat,
viewing
the transport and economic activities along the river. Our boat dropped
us on
the
door step of the well appointed White
Swan Hotel. We were very fortunate
to
have a parental contact for the hotel which was able to proved us with
an excellent price,
thus
allowing us a "5 star hotel experience" on our 3 star budget!
We returned to Hong Kong
by
the double decker KTT
express train, awesome Swiss made trains. Throughout the trip
students
were observing, noting and asking about the changing urban, industrial
and rural landscapes.
