Shang Chuan Island,
Fei Sha Beach, Guangdong, China

Fei Sha Beach, from the hotel

The group spent one night on Guangdong's largest island group, "Chuan Islands",
specifically  Shang Chuan Island.  We selected this location as our last night on this expedition for some R & R, where
there is a 5 km wide sandy beach with beautiful rocky headlands hemming it in.  In addition to this stunning location,
this was the island on which St. Francis Xavier died on in 1506.  After fun and games on the beach we traveled
onto the west side of the island where we visited the memorial church and talked with villagers who were bringing in their
fall rice harvest.

Large waves at the beach ... life jackets were mandatory

Sunset at the main port, west side of the island

A stranded boat

Drying fish near the port

It was just a "beach"

The girls were easily amused with washed up flotsam :)
