Guangdong-Nortel (GDNT) is a Canadian/Chinese joint venture company principally involved in telephone switching. It was in 1999 that GDNT allowed our students to visit their facility and we have been visiting since. The visit involved 2 lectures, a guided tour through the factory, lunch in the workers canteen and a friendly game of basketball and soccer. GDNT's generosity is very much appreciated as it allows students first hand experience on the rapidly changing information - technology economy in China and the role which they play.
