At CIS, our students follow an integrated programme based on the five branches of mathematics prescribed by the MYP:
- number
- algebra
- geometry and trigonometry
- statistics and probability
- discrete mathematics
Our schemes of work have been designed in-house, and are monitored, adjusted and updated as required.
Central to the Middle Years Programme are the five Areas of Interaction, which are:
- approaches to learning
- community and service
- human ingenuity
- environments
- health and social education
Instruction and assessment ensure that due thought and consideration are given to each of these areas of interaction.
In Years 7 to 9, our students are grouped heterogeneously.
In Years 10 and 11, we set our students according to ability, with the more able students (approximately one third of the year group) taking the Extended Mathematics course, and everyone else taking the Mathematics course. |
