Maths Club

Here at CIS, Keith Sanders and Kelly Throne run a very lively and well-attended maths club. Students from Year 7 through Year 10 take part in weekly sessions where they learn how to solve challenging problems, tackle more open-ended investigations and collaborate on group tasks.

The very best students make it onto the various maths teams that we have. Click on the logo to see past and present members of CIS' maths teams.

Our maths teams take part in local and regional competitions such as Dragon Math, ACAMIS and SEAMC. This year, SEAMC will be held in Hong Kong, and CIS is very proud to be one of the host schools for this great event.

Contests

CIS students also take part in in several contests throughout the year. The younger students, Years 7 through 9, take part in the AMC 8 and the Gauss contest. Our Year 10 and 11 students do the AMC 10, as well as the Pascal, Fryer, Cayley and Galois contests. And for the senior students, there are the AMC 12, Fermat and Hypatia contests.

Find out more about these contests here (American contests) and here (Canadian contests).
